Power-Flow Considerations of Optimal WPT Systems @ ICEAA 2017 in Verona, Italy
When optimizing multi-transmitter WPT systems via closed-form expressions or equivalent circuits accounting for retardation effects (i.e. complex mutual inductances), "power recycling modes" can be obtained, wherein some transmitters have to extract power from the WPT system, rather than to inject. This talk elucidates this phenomena and introduces methods to avoid such modes in the optimization stage.
Optimization of WPT Systems with Multiple Passive Elements @ URSI GASS 2017 in Montreal, Canada
The semidefinite relaxation-based optimization framework is extended and generalized to include passive elements as enhancements; ranging from relays all the way to metasurface applications.
From Optimization of Near-Field WPT Systems to Far-Field Antenna Arrays @ IEEE AP-S 2017 in San Diego, California, USA
A WPT Route to Magnetically Mediated Hyperthermia @ EuCAP 2017 in Paris, France
Hyperthermia, particularly magnetically mediated hyperthermia (MMH), is a promising method of cancer treatment via moderate heat exposure. Some MMH systems use induced currents as heat sources and can be treated and optimized similarly WPT systems, where optimal transfer efficiency translates to minimal heating in unwanted regions.
Optimal Performance Enhancement of WPT Systems by Passive Intermediate Couplers @ IEEE AP-S 2016 in Puerto Rico
Optimal Wireless Power Transfer @ IEEE AP-S 2015 in Memphis, Tennessee, USA
This year, I'll present three papers at the 2015 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas & Propagation (AP-S), in Vancouver, BC, Canada between July 19-25, 2015. My own research paper is entitled "Optimization and Design Sensitivity of SISO and MISO Wireless Power Transfer Systems" and I'll present the work of the two Engineering Science Undergraduate Students Tim X. Liu ("Comparison of Magnetic Field Exposure for SISO and MISO Wireless Power Transfer Systems") and Jasmine Choi ("Optimal configurations of multi-transmitter wireless power transfer systems for biomedical implants"). In addition, I'll co-chair the session MO-A5.2A Wireless Power Transmission, on Monday morning. July 19-25, 2015.
Magnetic Near-Field Focusing and Optimal Wireless Power Transfer @ WPTC 2015
I'll present my ongoing research with a the paper entitled "Magnetic Near-Field Focusing and Optimal Wireless Power Transfer" at the 2015 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC), at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado. May 13-15, 2015.
Optimization of Multi-Transmitter Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) Systems @ IEEE AP-S 2014
I presented some of my research results in the paper entitled "Maximum Transfer Efficiency and Optimal Loads for WPT Systems with Multiple Transmitters" at the 2014 IEEE International Symposium for Antennas and Propagation (AP-S), in Memphis, Tennessee; Session 209 – Wireless Power Transfer, Tue, July 9, 11:20 to 11:40.
Short Presentation on Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) Systems @ ECE 259
I was asked to give short talks about the basics of Wireless Power Transfer to students of ECE 259 – Electricity and Magnetism, to show one of many (modern) applications of induction and mutual inductance/coupling.
